LaVern was born just outside of Riding Mountain National Park. With it’s abundance of wildlife and natural
serenity brought about the discovery of his Artist Creativity at an early age. While in Brandon, Manitoba, he pursued his
artist ability, which eventually led to the Art of Taxidermy and later to a Commercial Art career.
LaVern relocated to the northeast region of Saskatchewan in 1979 where he continued to pursue his passion
for creating Art. Influenced by the Impressionistic Realism works of Carl Rungius, Manfred Schatz, Bob Kuhn, and Ken Carlson.
He developed his own unique style, inviting the viewer to share in his passion for Nature’s Tranquility and Peace.
Although still active in the sign-making business, he finds time to hone his skill of painting and carving
nature’s grandeur. This Saskatchewan Artist has been especially proud of his work with conservation groups and other
organizations dedicated to preserving and protecting Wildlife and Natural Habitat.
LaVern has won many awards at prestigious art shows and plans to compete Internationall
